Crank the belt
The outside handle drives the scoop conveyor through an enclosed chain.
Machines & motion
Crank a scoop belt to lift water, then deliver it onto a separate paddle wheel.

Load the 3D model to rotate and zoom. Approx. 1.3 MB.
Design concept shown in a fixed pose. The 3D view explores the form; effects and mechanisms are illustrative.
FROM ACTION TO DISCOVERY
The outside handle drives the scoop conveyor through an enclosed chain.
Inverted scoops discharge into a sloping collector.
Delivered water strikes the downstream wheel and drains back into the basin.
A CLOSER LOOK
Explore the arrangement of an outside crank, scoop conveyor, descending collector and separate downstream paddle wheel.
LEARNING THROUGH PLAY
This concept brings lifting, energy transfer and connected machines into a shared water-table setting. Visitors can explore the idea at their own pace and compare what they notice with a partner.
Turning the crank lifts water to a higher level.
The raised water can then produce motion in another device.
Visitors follow a chain of actions across two separate machines.
PART OF A BIGGER WATER TABLE
Reserve room outside the left edge for the crank. Develop belt clearances, scoop discharge and wheel alignment, keeping both machines and the connecting water path visible.
The arrangement can be developed for a museum, science centre or play space as part of a custom water table. Final dimensions, materials and operating performance are established during design and engineering.
